Picture
Left MSU campus to go to Many Water Campground by St. Regis.
Had a great breakfast of breakfast burritos then on to the Hiawatha bike trail.
Spent most of the day on the bike trail with many tunnels and trestles.
Ate lunch on a trestle. Has a huckleberry shake on the way back to the campsite where we made individual pizzas. People were able to fish Saturday evening.
Left Sunday am for home.

Welcome new crew member Mikhail and dad Jordan! The crew meeting highlights:
  • Reviewed safety, schedule, food, logistics for the upcoming Hiawatha bike Tier II adventure. 4 youth and 3 adults going.
  • Practiced canoe paddle strokes and reviewed canoe basics to prepare for next week canoe rescue meeting.
  • Reviewed upcoming schedule, including the pistol shooting.
  • Played "3 Things" survival game, which seemed to be a hit and might be something the crew continues. It is a fast game - you can play a round or 2 in 5 minutes - and tests your creativity and survival thinking.

  • For dinner on Saturday night, we will have pizza made in the Dutch oven. Annika is bringing sauce and pizza dough, Mrs. Bailey is brining black olives, tomatoes and mushrooms; the rest of the crew will bring other toppings for the pizza that they want to eat. Peach cobbler will be made and eaten for dessert in a Dutch Oven.
  • Sunday we will boil water and people can have oatmeal or a freeze-dried breakfast that they bring themselves as well as tea or coffee that the members bring themselves.
  • The crew was given a choice of going over the Idaho Montana border and biking on the Coeur d Alene trail, Swim at Quinn Hot Springs or swim at Lolo Hot Springs. It was voted on and decided after our bike ride, we will go to Quinn Hot Springs and swim.
  • Costs $32 for Hiawatha bike trail and bus ride back and $18 for swimming at Quinn Hot Springs. The campground we are staying at is free but first come first serve.

  • The crew voted and decided to not go to Fall Camporee.

  • Elections for the Crew are going to be on November 10th.
  • Some ideas for things to do for the summer adventure are Backpack to Shoshone Lake; Climb the back side of the Tetons; we are also going to look into Canoeing at Northern Tier and other places.
  • Due to the lightning and thunderstorm, we did not go out to work on changing a tire and do bike maintenance.
