Picture
Left MSU campus to go to Many Water Campground by St. Regis.
Had a great breakfast of breakfast burritos then on to the Hiawatha bike trail.
Spent most of the day on the bike trail with many tunnels and trestles.
Ate lunch on a trestle. Has a huckleberry shake on the way back to the campsite where we made individual pizzas. People were able to fish Saturday evening.
Left Sunday am for home.

Welcome new crew member Mikhail and dad Jordan! The crew meeting highlights:
  • Reviewed safety, schedule, food, logistics for the upcoming Hiawatha bike Tier II adventure. 4 youth and 3 adults going.
  • Practiced canoe paddle strokes and reviewed canoe basics to prepare for next week canoe rescue meeting.
  • Reviewed upcoming schedule, including the pistol shooting.
  • Played "3 Things" survival game, which seemed to be a hit and might be something the crew continues. It is a fast game - you can play a round or 2 in 5 minutes - and tests your creativity and survival thinking.

St. James Redecorating Underway

3/8/2022

Now that COVID is slowly (slloowwwly) fading into the background, the crew is meeting and getting plans in place for what comes after.  We have a great space at St. James, and a lively discussion of paint color, maps, pictures, status boards, and more happened at the March 6, 2022 crew meeting. The big redecorating - painting party is Sunday, March 20th.

Some ideas were tossed around about summer, and there is interest in a canoe trip (possibly in August) as the summer high adventure. All crew should be thinking about what they want to do this summer and next summer, as well as other fun program ideas.

The next overnight activity will be the Biking with Bison April 1-2, 2022. Check the calendar for upcoming meeting information. Also, you can see a list of upcoming activities here.

September 2019

This month we had a meeting to plan activities for the next several months and decided to enjoy a final Summer weather adventure. The outdoor adventure was a Paddle – Peddle. We took our bikes to a place in Headwaters Park on the Missouri River, and then drove the canoes and launched them into the Jefferson River. We paddled to the bikes with one exciting moment with a canoe overturning (an adult leader canoe to be precise), and then paddled to the bikes and biked back to the cars. It was a great day, ending with a riverside BBQ with us and the mosquitoes. On the planning side, we decided one meeting a month to have a conference call to focus on planning and make it easier to include members who live further away.
Until next month!
